How can you make a good Facebook Live into a totally epic one?
Well first, let’s just start by acknowledging the elephant in the [virtual] room. Facebook Live can be scary shit.
I bet you even the most successful entrepreneurs with hundreds of thousands of followers will still tell you that they get a few butterflies in their stomach before jumping onto a live video chat.
It’s basically the modern day equivalent of having to give a speech in front of the whole school when you were a kid. Even if it was a topic you knew really well, as soon as you realised how many people were going to hear you talk…you all of the sudden just forgot the entirety of the English language.
Ok maybe not quite so dramatic.
The point is – I understand how intimidating it can be, however, the amazing feeling you get when your live video goes really well is worth a bit of nerves!
So how can you make sure that you walk away from your Facebook Live chat with a bit of spring in your step from all the hearts and smiley emojis and ‘you go girl’ encouraging comments you got?
Basically, how can you go from a good Facebook Live to a “wow holy crap, that was the best 4 minutes of my life” Facebook Live?

Happy Blog Tip Tuesday x
it’s Kate here from Secret Bloggers’ Business and welcome back to Blog Tip Tuesday, where you get tips and tricks for a better blog.
Now this week’s tip, it’s all around how to get the most out of Facebook Live.
Facebook Live, as you’d have seen, it’s kind of everywhere right now. It’s getting a lot more engagement and a lot of different types of posts so everyone’s kind of jumping onto it but how do you get the most out of it?
How do you make those posts really go that extra mile? Well that’s what this tip is all about.
There’s a really simple thing that you can do and this works really well if you’re promoting something. For example, if you’ve got a launch coming up or maybe you’re doing a challenge or you’re launching an ebook or you’re doing an interview or something like that, so basically this is a Facebook Live that’s about something that’s important so you’d be happy to put a little bit of budget behind it.
To make sure it gets seen by as many people as possible, there is a set of steps that you need to do.
First of all, you need to plan out a time for this Facebook Live and then you need to let your email list and the rest of your social media know when that is. Say “Hey, tomorrow I’m going to be doing a Facebook Live at X time, come along!” and then send them a reminder just before it happens, maybe ten minutes before jumping on Facebook Live, just say “Hey hey, just a reminder I’m going live in 10, come over and join me”. This means that you’re going to have as many people viewing it as possible.
Next step is, when you do jump on, ask them a question. Ask something simple that’s going to get some comments, so something they can give a one or two word answer or something that’s a sort of ‘do you prefer A or do you prefer B’ scenario.
People love giving their opinion, particularly if you make it easy for them. When you’re getting those comments, all of the sudden your posts gets boost up the algorithm, because it looks like something’s getting a lot of engagement.
It can also be good to ask for likes and hearts and things like that because, again, that all adds to the algorithm. Once you’ve done that, and you finish your Facebook Live, let it run for a little bit, for a couple of hours, see how it goes organically and then add your budget to it.
You’re going to get a lot more bang for your buck that way and that Facebook Live is going to be seen everywhere!
That’s it for me this week guys.
